Light Attack Craft Erithacus - part 13

New update! I slowly come close to end. Slowly.
This time I've worked on the lower part of the cockpit, the Erithacus nose.

I've removed this big radar antenna/refuel support. Before it was too asymetric.

Then I've added this plastic component, form Chimera desembark hatch, I'm not sure.

Green Stuff work. Now Light Attack Craft Erithacus' nose looks like (a bit...) a sport car's nose.

The new nose is more compatible with the vertical line of storm bolter.

Frontal view.

The radar antenna is replaced by an armoured plate.

Don't look at the upper part of cockpit and the canopy, I must change them!

Fingers of the Gods, my tribute to Imperial Guard with a free comic

Fingers of the Gods is my free comic inspired by Warhammer 40000 universe. Imperial Guard, with the support of Imperial Navy, raids a Cabal of Eldar Pirates.
I drew it some years ago, with a Wacom Volito 2 and Corel Painter 9Special thanks to Giuliano Graziu for the initial translation, and Killian J ShamanSteempunk. Whatwhat, Not_U, who help me translating in English the whole comic.

Fingers of the Gods is the account of a suicide mission. Seven Imperial Guard specialists infiltrate the darkness surrounding planet Kiprael 9, the gloomy den of a Cabal of Eldar Pirates.
They have to violate the defenses of Vampire palace, rescue a mysterious Astropath, kill the xeno leader and finally share the inevitable death of the living palace.
The instructions are scarce, the environment is hostile. The dark conceals endless dangers. Only a grim determination spurs the team. Only their faithful weapons keep the seven guards alive. In spite of their survival instinct, against their very self-preservation, the team penetrates an endless maze of claustrophobic corridors. The desperate wails of the prisoners haunt the seven specialists. Bloodthirsty creatures stalk them in the shades. Lethal assassins hunt them everywhere.
It is a match between deathdealers.

Video presentation, music by Johann Sebastian BachAir ORCHESTRAL SUITE No.3 in D Major,BWV.1068.

The Characters (!!!start spoiler!!!)
  • Ronagar Ine, Lieutenant PDF Aster. Reliable. He tries to hide his regret. Unlike the others he is not enlisted in one of the innumerable regiments of the Guard. He is merely an officer of the Planetary Defense Force. An exemplary career, his family, his house: this was Ronagar's life.
  • Negade Alendra, Sergeant XIV Storm Troopers. Determined. She loves action and always wants to fight on the forefront. In her veins flows melted steel and adrenaline, they say. Her past life is classified. Perhaps she volunteered to taste the ultimate battle lust.
  • Jlota Genses, Lieutenant V Nerhan Raiders. Sad. Like Ronagar she loves life, but knows she has to die soon: a terminal disease is slowly devouring her. She feels attracted by the Captain. It has taken her years to rise from the ranks, promoted when she survived the unlucky Bophius campaign. Unfortunately, there she contracted a lethal alien virus.
  • Quavee Octavius Lieutenant II Ripiana Mountaineers. Lone wolf. Ironic. Used to get by alone. Good sniper, the promotion to Lieutenant has arrived after the umpteenth perfect kill. He has fallen hopelessly addicted to alien drugs. Framed by a rival that tell on him he waits for the Martial Court, he accepted this mission to redeem himself.
  • Natum Qaud, XXVIII Fenix Sappers. Carefree. Visionary. He is very fond of great explosions, the smell of the cordite in the air and rubbles shedded here and there. An excellent sapper, used to infiltrate the enemy lines, place his explosives and vanish like a ghost. However, he has grow tired of devastation and death.
  • Kieve Borcic, XL Voskta Engineers. Cool. Lonely. She is afflicted by the death of her partner, tragically disappeared in a accidental explosion. She is an experienced artificer adept in neutralizing booby-traps. This mission is her chance to rejoin her loved one.
  • Umo Dreell, Captain XI Swordhand. Fierce, merciless, efficient: an assassin. He conceals a bit of sensibility and the hostile environment of Kiprael will stress his nerves to the limit. Promoted Captain in a Regiment that exalts hand to hand combat, he has served well the Imperium. Then a tragic error and the death of a million Citizens have jeopardized its reputation.
(!!!end spoiler!!!)

Fingers of the Gods comic was originally a short novel, set in the grim darkness of Warhammer 40000, titled Squadra Rappresaglia (Retaliation Squad) and written by the author in the winter of 2004. It was published in the Adeptus Narrator section of Italian Games-Workshop forum; it came to life thanks to other forum members' support and comments too.
In the spring of 2007 Black Library opened Planet Kill competition and the author partecipated in it with this short novel. Giuliano Graziu's help was fundamental because of the English traslation and his advices. Title changed in Le Dita degli Dei (Fingers of the Gods). Competition's result was negative.
In the summer of 2007 the author decided to publish a comic about his short novel. He starded drawing the first pages with a grafic tablet, then hosted in the Forum GW Tilea's galleries. The project didnt' ended.
In the spring of 2009 the author resumed the old draws to end his work. Mission accomplished in September of the same year.
Some months later, the author starts traslating the comic. Thanks to DakkaDakka forum the work begins.
In the late spring of 2010, with the immeasurable support of Kevin J. "Shaman" and also "Steempunk", "WhatWhat" and "Not_U", tha author can achieve the goal.

Good reading!

"[...]and that's why "Fingers of the Gods" can show in the best way what is: a lively story marked by the strong and involving images of modest, forgotten, great heroes of the Imperium."

Light Attack Craft Erithacus - part 12

You can see some green stuff is more yellow than normal. I hope it becomes hard...

Three missile launchers are placed under each wing.
Right wing. There is one frag missile, the other two are unloaded.

Left wing. There is also a crack missile, it's from a hunter missile form the old Imperial Guard tanks. I've shortened it with the cutter.

An aggresive pic of the fullarmed Erithacus aircraft.

Light Attack Craft Erithacus - part 11

New pics on the work in progress: the sculpture of the internal part of the wings and the renewal of the missile launchers.
Original missile launchers:

I cut off the excess green stuff with the cutter.

I use this curved screwdriver to model the green stuff. It's very good to smooth the surface.

The original missile launchers (Imperial Guard plastic mortars) with the components I add to them, small plastic cylinders, to increase the total lenght. Otherwise these weapons are too short with the new bigger wings.

To get the frag missile head I use the tips of this scenic ( I don't remember the box's name it comes from, there is an imperial pilot, space marines and tyranids...). I incise them with the cutter, to get the surface of a frag grenade.

Erithacus aricraft costruction continues in the next page...

An old pic...

My entire army's showing his best in a pic of some years ago. The army looks like ready for a Warhammer 40000 Apocalypse match.
18 vehicles and some hundreds of infantrymen. All is painted and I'm proud of it.

After this pic, some tanks have been restyled and I've built some other models, like the urban war diorama.

There are (from left to right):
(top) diorama with battlefight, Exterminator, Griffon, Conqueror, Chimeras, Demolisher, Roughriders, Hellhound, Leman Russ, Basilisk, Chimeras, Termite selfmade aircraft, (middle) old Catachans, old Tallarns, Lions (Pretorians' conversions), Ratlings Snipers, Imperial Missionary, Lion mascotte, Eversor assassin, Tallarns, Stormtroopers, Tallarn Veterans, old Beret Stormtroopers, Tanith Ghosts, Sly Marbo&Catachans, (down) new Catachans.

Light Attack Craft Erithacus - part 10

I have to resize the soldier placed on the foothold...

I file the Cadian helmet (like a paratrooper's?) and I add a knee pad with green stuff.
Here is mounted in his place.
He keeps hold with his hand.

The model is very heavy and it need a joint. I putt together four segments of an iron paper clip, like a cross. This pivot enter in the plastic of the aircraft.

Erithacus aircraft mounted on the base, aimed low.

Playing DOW with Steel Legion

Battle Report: Steel Legion VS Orks. 3 VS 3.
Some years ago I play a cooperative map of Dawn of Steel, the best mod of Dawn of War Winter Assault. Two friends as allies and difficulty insane.
In the start Orks wildy attack my base. I'm outnumbered and my main force are too distant, raiding Ork's base. Ork force destroys a lot of vital buildings, before going away. I'm without workers for the rest of the match and I must defending the few turret-barracks that remain. Above, you can see my first and last Lieutenant giving his life in the desperate defense.
Ork invasion is stopped by the heavy fire of my allies, that're defending a tight pass.
First personal counterattack along the border of the map, a bloody trench in the wetland, deploying the Stormtroopers (the radar's survived). This first attempt of revenge poorly fails. In the second pic the infantry's retreating, under the cover of Ć©lite squads.
Allies attack the nearest Ork base, defeating it while I'm holding the centre with tanks against superior force (look at the minimap).
My tanks in the middle and the victorious allies penetrate in the rest of hostile territory with support of additional forces deploiyng from the sky. In the first pic the spectacular landing of one hundred Stormtroopers. The siege is very hard, the defenders are too many and too strong. Every building and turret has a lethal defensive fire.
Next moment is critical. We are surrounded in enemy bases. Entire contingent is slaughtered by Ork fire, except my tanks that turn and attack other base, defenseless, destroying it.
The battle turns in our favour, because of the Stormblade too, obviously. Finally the combined offensive (allies dropping by the sky, my tanks from destroyed base and my infantry's advancing from the border of the map) is decisive.
We win. The table with the result and the battlefield, full of corpse. A very good and difficult match, one hour long, to be remembered.

Light Attack Craft Erithacus - part 9

I continue with this foothold/helicopter skid/rollbar...
...useful to mount and desembark from assult craft.
In this pic there is not yet the green stuff.
I sculpt the armour plates in the rear with green stuff.

The foothold is from internals of Imperial Guard Chimera.
