Stormtroopers' Chimera part 5: restoring lasguns and dozer blade

Stormtroopers' Chimera looks like not complete, so I restore lasguns and add a dozer blade, which I get from... the wings of the Light Attack Craft Erithacus (don't worry, Erithacus has new operational wings).

Restoring the dozer blade:

I get lasguns from the Chimera assigned to Catachan Jungle Fighters. These ones have more recent type of lasguns, so their Chimera must have some, too.

One of the lasguns is selfmade... find it!

And finally the Chimera whole painted:

Legions Imperialis part 3: the infantry so far

Solar Auxilia Tercios and Veletaris Storm Sections, the finest infantry in the galaxy. I have achieved this solid mass of armoured infantrymen, full helmeted troopers (I think it's a virtue of Legions Imperialis that there are no bare-headed models on the battlefield).

I try to take picture of every small conversion, like the remembrancer of the Horus Heresy. So, let the pictures speak for themselves.

The infantry formations so far, five boxes of Solar Auxilia infantry without the Ogryns:

Standards: two Legate Commanders and two Auxilia Tactical Commands. I've upgraded the previous conversions, with volkite chargers for Commanders' bodyguards and lasrifles for Tactical Lieutenants; black cloaks for everyone; lightnings for Sub-Cohorts' standards and axes for Pioneers':

Tercios. I remove laspistols and sabres to some Sergeants, keeping just one leader for each Tercio/Flamer Auxiliares detachment. I add some tank crew torsos to the legs of lasriflemen who are assigned to Auxilia Tactical Commands:

Veletaris. I deploy some bases with Volkite Chargers thanks to the sabres and laspistols I've got above.

Aeton Heavy Sentinels and Auxilia Cyclops:

Rapier and Tarantula detachments are still missing...

Fimir and Tanith Ghosts for Heroquest and Shadow Wars

My female Imperial Guard conversion sacrifices herself to let me build two different female miniatures: one captive by a longing Fimir in Heroquest dungeons and the other one enlisted in Tanith Ghosts recon squads.

I've to admit, it was a weird conversion that didn't fit the Warhammer standards, so I decided to revalue her in this way.

First of all the Fimir who has just captured this poor thief woman:

Male Fimirs kidnap human women to procreate, as old background says, and this thief woman has been very unlucky. She hopes her adventure companions come quickly to rescue her. (I must write a Heroquest quest...)

The original conversion was build on an Elf Wardancer. Her head was sculpted on the original one with green stuff, so I carefully took it off and rebuilt for the Fimir's captive.

The original conversion had a Wardancer face, I think it can work as female face for the Tanith Ghost Scout woman. Could she be Banda?

The other trooper with grenade launcher with Bren style magazine (he's a big man, could he be Bragg?) has been built on a valiant selfmade knight on foot for Mordheim...

Some update also for Heroquest goblins and orcs. I added the string for the bows and the crossbow and I replaced the club with a spear:

Legions Imperialis part 2: command squads and epic conversions

Task 1: all Solar Auxilia Command Squads troopers must wear black coats

Task 2: and they must be equipped with the legit weapons

For the first and the second Solar Auxilia Command Squads (blue and red flags, two Sub-Cohort HQs) I achieve the goal: volkite chargers for the Legate Commander's troopers, lasrifles for the Auxilia Tactical Command.

For Pioneer Company Command Squads (green flags, with axes because of Velatarii wargear) I have to compromise (I don't have enough miniatures)

One Tactical Commander is a modified Legate Commander (or Lord Marshal), with four else I get the staff troopers. Lasrifles on their side, tank crew men to modify two of them. Centurion crests for all the officers. Lens at the tip of the telescopes.

I declare war to undercuts

I work on the already painted Velatarii miniatures.

Two Tercios almost completed

Before Legate Commander base had two flags, now each detachments has a colour: blue and red for Sub-Cohorts, green and teal green for Pioneer Companies. Colours on shoulders too.

Legions Imperialis part 1: Solar Auxilia Legate Commander

Legions Imperialis deserves my hobby efforts. I've always wished Epic scale miniatures, I've always wished to deploy squadrons of tanks, squadrons of Sentinels, superheavy tanks, squadrons of Arvus...! Solar Auxilia is my first choice alongside Knights Questoris, they look  great together. Solar Auxilia indeed looks like Mechanicus infantry that could support Knights and Titans.

I don't appreciate just three details: Ogryns-cyborg (they are more suitable for Mechanicus indeed), bases too short (I can't handle them) and tanks without bases (so they look smaller compared to infantry).

So tanks must be placed on a base to become higher. (Why in Legion Imperialis infantry needs bases and tank doesn't?) 40mm round base looks great for Leman Russ, but Malcador and Baneblade need bigger oval bases, quite expensive, then I make by myself the bases recycling the old plastic sprues.

Another detail I don't like so much is the Leman Russ battle cannon barrel. It could be a good idea to replace it with Maldador's Demolisher cannon, or to shorten the Vanquisher barrel. There are plenty of weapon options, I have to find some way to not waste them!

Painting the infantry on the sprue is clever, never done before by me, but it's necessary with the epic scale of Legions Imperialis.

Small conversions: centurion crests for the Lord Marshal and other officers.
Free-hand for banner, decals are not my cup of tea...

Mine Solar Auxilia troopers are golden as Braganza besiegers. They still need some work.

Heroquest Barbarian Mission 6: the Empire Hunter

Saving Sir Ragnar. A brave Empire Hunter escorts to safety the rescued prisoner (I've changed Sir Ragnar face, now he has a mustache). Two Heroes ready but not yet anyone of the original four ones...

The starting miniature was a very old Elf, from the box Fantasy Regiments. I replaced his head with the Advanced HeroQuest Warrior's helmet and I sculpted the face with green stuff. I replaced his feet too, before those boots were too pointed (Elfish style), and the plume too, with this pale red tuft I don't remember where I got it.

Above the green stuff work and the firts steps of the painting. When I finished the model I had the great idea to add the bowstring. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it.

A lot of green for this Empire Hunter (his eyes too): he is deployed in the vanguard and explores the dungeons if necessary, to grant the safety of his marching fellows.

The new face for Sir Ragnak.

I found this picture with the legendary Heroes of Dungeon Quest, it can be useful to compare the scale with Heroquest miniatures.

A lot of Dwarfs, part 1

This Dwarf Lord is my tribute to the epic Adrian Smith's artwork.

My original plan was to gather a Mordheim band, but now I can deploy a little Warhammer Fantasy army to garrison a keep in the Underway. It's fault of Warhammer Total War of course and the Kraka Drak mod, much more than Warhammer The Old World announcement.

Sixth edition plastic Dwarfs let me set up four type of regiments: 1) Rangers with fur coat, horned helms and light chainmail 2) Quarellers with jerkin and light chainmail 3) Warriors with Great Weapon with chainmail and Viking helm 4) Warriors with chainmail.

The Regiments: Rangers and Great Weapon Warriors from Kraka Drak, Quarellers and Warriors from Karak Izor (could the Underway connect two so distant Karaks?)

With seventh edition Dwarfs I've built two small regiments of Miners and Longbeards:

Lord, Thanes and a Slayer from a Fyreslayer (for this reason is very big compared to other dwarfs):
I've always wished the Hammerers in my ranks, so the Skull Pass Dwarf Lord has a big Hammer like the old metal Hammerers miniatures.
